1945: Post-War America

• Yank Magazine, 1945 •

At the time this article went to press, the American people were still continuing to receive those sad envelopes from the Department of War reporting on the 410,000 deaths suffered as a result of four years of global industrialized warfare.

This article, written by Robert Bendiner (1910 – 2009), relayed that peacetime took some getting used to, but day by day, the nation was slowly swinging into its post-war stride.

Five years later the Korean war would begin.

What if the Atomic Bomb had never been invented? When would the war have ended?
