Attached is a brief column concerning the military hospital in Pasadena, California (previously the Vista del Arroyo Hotel, pictured above) where absolute madness broke out upon hearing the long anticipated news that the Japanese had cried “uncle” and the war was over:

“They went wild…they slid down banisters, they chinned themselves on the hospital’s chandeliers. The remark most of them made was, ‘No Pacific trip now!'”
