An interview with the American P.O.W.s who were harty enough to survive the abuses at the Japanese Prison Camp at Cabanatuan (Luzon, Philippines): “The summer of ’42 was the worst. [We] were dying 20 or 30 a day. One day 65 died. The Japs made us bury them, made us dig holes, then threw 40 or 50 bodies in a hole. ..The smell made us sick.”

“Men died so fast it was impossible to identify their bodies.”
