Since we know that “Man’s despair is God’s opportunity” (Second Corinthians 1:8 – 11) we can assume that the abundant sadness that fell upon the nations throughout the Thirties as a result of the Great Depression must certainly have resulted in a great harvest of souls for both church and synagogue

“…since the Depression began one out of every six banks has failed, one out of every forty-five hospitals has closed, one out of every twenty-two business and industrial concerns has become bankrupt, but only one out of every 2,344 churches has closed its doors.”
