Previously
Parched Land

By 1933 the Zionists residing in British Palestine were discovering (much to their joy and delight) that the land bequeathed to Abraham by God Himself was indeed a land of “milk and honey”; the Jordan River was generating electricity, the Dead Sea was harvesting copious amounts of bromine and potash, and the fertile soil was yielding millions of oranges that were purchased throughout the Mediterranean basin. So productive and plenteous was this land that the pessimistic correspondent who penned the attached column could only envision collapse and failure.
