Schwab’s Pharmacy was like many other well-heeled American pharmacies of the Forties – it filled prescriptions, sold cigars, cracked-wise with the clientele and served three squares a day at their counter:

“[Schwab’s] had one of Hollywood’s best chef’s put up a 65-cent dinner that regularly attracts the Basil Rathbones, Jim Cagneys and Charles Laughtons… [Movie] extras give the store’s phone number as their own because it’s the one place that will try to find them when a studio calls.”

Needless to say, what made this pharmacy different was that it was located in the premiere movie capitol of the world.
