This column consists of the statistical figures that were collected between the years 1943 and 1944 concerning religions in the United States. The data was gleaned from the YEARBOOK OF AMERICAN CHURCHES, 1945, and despite the title Jewish Synagogues were also counted in their analysis. There is a numerical summary of each of the main Christian denominations (the Protestant congregations were twice as large as those of the Catholic Church) and a break-down as to the amount of money donated to religious institutions during the early Forties. Almost half the American population was not associated with any religious body.
