For a great many it will come as no shock that the Confederate States of America entered it’s twilight with the same selfishness that gave it life. The attached 1912 magazine article solved a Civil War mystery as to what had become of the gold and silver from the vaults of the CSA when it became apparent to all that the rebellion had run its course.
