Seeing that 2026 marked the 163rd anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, it is fitting that we remember an important reunion that took place during the fiftieth Gettysburg reunion in 1913 – when a surviving member of Virginia’s Fifty-Sixth Regiment encountered the Federal soldier who had saved his life at the Bloody Angle.
