Here is a printable chronology of the important events that occurred during 1865, the last year of the American Civil War:

The year started out with the capture of Fort Fisher in North Carolina and the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment in Washington. Lee surrendered his army on April ninth, and Lincoln was assassinated on the fourteenth. Jefferson Davis was captured in flight on May tenth.
