If not for those scientifically-minded and lavishly-compensated milliners of the time, 1914 would have gone down in our memories as one of the worst years in history, but then we ran across this article and it made us recall the days when a particular gag was often decanted by the barbers of olde:
“There is only one thing that stops hair from falling——the floor”.
Our collective lids are off to that noggin-heavy crew that tried to make the yuk-yuk quoted above even more forgettable than it already was, however, the search for the cure for baldness continues into the Twenty-First Century.
