Posted on the right is a short profile of Irna Phillips (1901 – 1973) – she was, more than anyone else, the one who can be credited with the creation of the daytime dramas called “soap operas” on both radio and television.
“She dictates annually 2,000,000 words – enough to to fill 27 books – and has 4 radio serials running at once (“The Guiding Light”, “Road of Life”, “Lonely Woman” and “Right to Happiness”).
