Responding to the Dior H-Line silhouette that appeared in the summer of 1954, the hard-boiled, gumshoe investigative journalists of Tempo Magazine scampered all over the City of Los Angeles searching for celebrities and whatever deep thoughts they had regarding designer Christian Dior and his “war on breasts”. It was just as they thought: American celebs stood shoulder-to-shoulder with their fellow countrymen wishing to liberate the breast, just as they had stood in league with the world ten years earlier to liberate Paris.
