Liberty publisher Bernarr MacFadden (1868 – 1955) gave FDR and his New Deal both barrels in this 1938 editorial in which he condemned their inefficient economic policies:
"They would like to ignore precedent... entirely cast aside and forget the extraordinary results of our experiences in following the American system. They hate business and everything connected with it... They would like to make a world of their own.... built around their fairylike dreams, which in the end would come crashing down upon their stupid heads. They cannot see that spending ten million dollars a day more than they receive will ultimately bring certain disaster."
