Some fifteen years later Laube returned to The U.S. in order to launch "Smell-o-vision", which was planned as the motion picture equivalent to smellivision - but that, too, was a dud. But in the fullness of time the technology would be perfected and the Japanese firm NTT Communications Corporation had planned to re-introduce Smell-o-vision into the 21st Century with the 2005 film The New World, starring Colin Farrell, but it seems that someone got cold feet, and the audience never smelled anything more interesting than popcorn and Junior Mints.
The technology continues to languish.
