We were amused to post this image to illustrate these columns, although we don't really know the situation that is pictured: was it a snapshot from a Hollywood movie, or was it just another publicity still promoting the democratic process in Burbank? Either way, depicted in the image is the American actress Jane Russell (1921 - 2012) using a six-shooter to hammer a nail that supports a placard baring the publicly-held beliefs of The League of Women Voters. However, we do know that no one would find it more amusing than the actress herself, a life-long Republican, Jane Russell knew quite well that the League of Women Voters (in their heart of hearts) would prefer it if Republicans simply stayed home on Election Day.
