The article on the right is pretty famous; it was written by a very prolific journalist from the Forties, Morris Markey (1899 - 1950). If not for Alcoholics Anonymous, his topic in this column, we might never have heard of him.

I don't like that word miracle, but that's all I can call it. The lights in the street seemed to flare up. My feet seemed to leave the pavement.
